Which licenses does LIMRO Verify check?
Registered nurse, licensed practical or vocational nurse and APRN licenses in all 50 states and DC, through Nursys e-Notify, the national nurse licensure database run by NCSBN. Licenses are also checked against the state licensing agency's own records in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Texas and Washington. Nursing assistants are verified in Washington, Colorado and Rhode Island, home health aides in New Jersey, and social worker and counselor licenses in Washington, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Rhode Island and New Jersey. NPIs are verified with the federal NPPES NPI Registry for every state.
How does the Nursys connection work?
Nursys e-Notify is free from NCSBN. Your agency creates an institution account on nursys.com and asks NCSBN for API credentials, which takes one email. You enter them once in LIMRO under Settings. LIMRO then adds your RN, LPN and APRN staff to your Nursys nurse list, removes people who leave, checks for license changes every day and renews the API password before it expires. Nurses do not have to do anything.
Why does Nursys need the last 4 digits of a nurse's SSN?
Nursys confirms each nurse with the last 4 SSN digits and birth year before adding them to your list, so alerts always reach the right person. You enter the 4 digits once. LIMRO keeps them encrypted only until Nursys accepts the nurse, then erases them. Birth year comes from the date of birth already on your roster.
How often are licenses rechecked?
Nursys changes are checked every day, so a new board action reaches your review queue the day Nursys reports it. Every license is also fully rechecked every week and NPIs every 30 days, and right away when you add or change a credential. Washington, Colorado, Connecticut and Delaware are looked up live; Michigan, New Jersey and Rhode Island data is refreshed every night; Texas and California publish their data monthly.
What happens if a license is suspended or has board action?
A suspended, revoked or surrendered license moves the employee to Blocked, so the Scheduling Gatekeeper stops them from being scheduled. Board action, late renewals and conditions send the employee to Review with the details, and your managers are emailed the same day.
Are there extra fees per check?
No. Every verification LIMRO runs is included in your monthly per-employee rate. There are no setup fees, per-check fees or pass-through charges.
What about employees licensed in other states?
Nursing licenses from any state are verified through Nursys, including multistate compact licenses and whether the nurse may practice in your state. Other license types from states not listed above are tracked with expiration alerts and verified automatically as more states are added. Exclusion screening and NPI verification cover every state.
